On the Pros and Cons of the “Garden Villages”, the Environment Journal asks: “are we learning from the past?”

As Founding Partners of the International Garden Cities Institute, Gascoyne Cecil Estates wholeheartedly agree with the Town and Country Planning Association that our aspiration must be for high quality design which can deliver “development that enhances the natural environment, providing a comprehensive green infrastructure network and net biodiversity gains, and that uses zero-carbon and energy-positive technology to ensure climate resilience.”

Anthony Downs, our Director of Planning and Development, explained to the Environment Journal earlier this year that our approach is rooted in the belief that “no one solution will cure the present housing shortage and it will be necessary to consider a mixture of regeneration and development types.”
