Gascoyne is delighted to announce the commencement of work which will deliver new housing at Mill Green. The project comprises the refurbishment and extension of the listed Green Man pub, the construction of nine houses and the creation of new public open space bordering the River Lea.

Gascoyne has partnered with Jarvis Homes following the success of previous work at Church Lane and prior projects in Old Hatfield. It is anticipated that work on the pub will be completed by spring 2022, after which attention will turn to the construction of new homes. We are especially pleased to be returning the pub to its rightful place as a hub for the local community, with improved indoor and outdoor dining facilities – this, allied with new public realm, was a key element of the masterplan, derived through consultation with the local community during the 2011 Mill Green Charrette (see paper here).

The houses will be complete by the spring of 2023 and their design is governed by principles of Gascoyne’s Pattern Book and Hatfield Building Code. The quality and level of detail applied to this development is representative of that which will be rolled out across our larger sites in the coming years. Most importantly it is hoped that the development will engender increased vibrancy for the hamlet of Mill Green, adding long term social and economic value. Our thanks, as ever, extend to the residents of Mill Green for their ongoing support.
