UH Architecture Exhibition – Congratulations to the winners!
On the 27th February, Gascoyne hosted the University of Hertfordshire’s second year architecture students for an exhibition of their work in York House.
Students were asked to look at the thresholds to Salisbury Square, designing an enticing route into and out of it. They also designed a public gallery space to occupy part of the square, taking cues from the community, local architecture and history.
Six students were shortlisted, all of whom produced high quality designs. The judges were thoroughly impressed with the work and all six students were commended for their efforts.
Cash prizes were awarded to the best three projects, which were:
1st: Cristino Canga, whose energetic explanations and appreciation of materials and massing were excellent.
2nd: Rabia Duran, who took on the most challenging space in the square with great skill.
3rd: Diana Soare, whose design fitted nicely in the context of Old Hatfield and showed an appreciation for its history.
Congratulations to all the students who took part.
Further events are programmed to take place in York House in the coming months. We look forward to seeing you there.
