Salisbury Square

Updates on the regeneration of Old Hatfield

We would like to thank all residents and attendees for their contribution the conversation around Salisbury Square.

Salisbury Square has remained the elusive missing piece of the Old Hatfield vision. Due to rising building costs, it has been necessary to review the approved scheme and replace it with one which is more cost effective. The exhibition held in York House on 8th July illustrated two potential schemes at opposing ends of the spectrum. Both of these schemes would be deliverable within the budget we have. If you were unable to attend the exhibition, the full proposals are available here.

Pedestrian focussed option

Access focussed option

We asked for your views on the following elements of the scheme:

  • Green space
  • Access
  • Retail
  • Parking

The survey closed on 15th July 2019. We are in the process of analysing the results, and will publish a report shortly. Thank you to all those who responded to the survey. It has given us an incredibly nuanced understanding of the public mood, and some interesting patterns have emerged.

With these results in mind, we will be formulating our final proposals. These too will be published on the website in due course.

If you have any questions regarding the plans, please email Peter at p.mitchell@gascoyneplaces.org.
